1. A meeting was held on Monday 15th December 2008 with Ray Beard, Environmental Manager, Aberdeen City Council, and some of his colleagues.  Frank Taylor(Acting  Secretary) attended for the Association.

Dave Smith(Acting Chairman) and Kevin Stirton were unable to attend because of last minute work Commitments.  Future meetings are to be held out of business hours.

Levels of rent were not even mentioned at this meeting.  Mr Beard's department is not able to overturn decisions made by elected representatives.

Frank Taylor reports that he felt the meeting was extremely productive. If anyone has anything they want raised at the next meeting ----yes this is the start of an ongoing process- give Frank the details and he will make sure it is included on the next agenda.

2. Association members with concerns about rent levels should make representations to the Council.  Contact your local Councillor and make him aware of your concerns.

3. Representations are being made to the Council about their practice of demanding the whole rent for allotments in advance. The Allotments (Scotland)Act 1950 seems to indicate that no more than a quarter of the rent may demanded in advance if the amount involved is more than a pound.  See the latest news pagelatest news for current news about this item.

4. Representations are being made to the Council about their practice of charging more than a pro rata share of a full plot rent for anything less than a full plot.  The Allotments legislation does not appear to allow this practice.
